Our Mission and Roles
The mission of the League of Women Voters of Curry County – like that of affiliated leagues at the state and national level – is to encourage informed and active participation in government in order to build better communities. The League is a nonpartisan, political, membership organization. LWVCC never supports or opposes any political party or candidate. It influences public policy through education and advocacy.
LWVCC is a qualified nonprofit corporation under IRS §501(c)(3). As such, we focus our activities on citizen education and voter services, including nonpartisan candidate forums and voter registration. We engage in studies of local issues, take positions on them, and take action on our positions, including lobbying efforts as appropriate.
